Give a man a compliment, and he’ll feel good for a day.
Teach a man to fish for compliments, and he’ll be able to annoy those around him for a whole lifetime.
So it’s lucky that the people behind Taste of London don’t need to fish for compliments. They tend to come at them thick, fast, and without solicitation. Because that’s just what happens when you start a food festival that’s so successful, it ends up expanding to 17 other major cities across the globe. And to demonstrate why, here’s what they have planned for you at this year’s Festive Edition, cheerily making its way to you for an almost-Christmas celebration at Tobacco Dock…
You’ll get 22 of the capital’s finest, all in one place, including the likes of Bao, Barrafina, Kricket, Farang, the freshly Michelin-Starred Jamavar, and – oh yes – The Action Against Hunger 5 Star Doughnut Restaurant. They’ll all be serving up their signature dishes, all cooked up by, well…
As well as the stars behind the famed kitchens of the aforementioned restaurants, you’ll also see appearances from superstars including Ollie Dabbous, Lee Westcott, Jose Pizarro, Jun Tanaka, and Rosie Birkett, who’ll be responsible for a lot of the demos, masterclasses, and events, too. Speaking of..
This year, and for the first time, you’ll get to see the World Cheese Awards, in which 3,000 cheeses from 30 countries will vie for the title of ‘the world’s best cheese’, as decided by 250 expert judges from every corner of the globe. And yes, you will indeed be able to judge for yourself with a cheese tasting tour of the best curd-ey entrants, as well as taking in a few slices at The Cheese Bar.
And that’s just one of many events; you can also expect some open-flame BBQ at The Fire Pit, a Craft Beer Trail, some baking classes, cocktails from a herb garden, and an artisan producer market with samples-a-plenty. And, of course…
