The Blind Pig

You know what you call a pig with no eyes?

1) A pg.

2) A hidden Soho speakeasy run by the people at Jason Atherton’s critically beloved Social Eating House.

Parked below an unassuming Optician’s sign, you’ll need to locate the pig-shaped door knocker, give it a push, and head up to the top floor. The space has the same slick touches that we’ve all come to expect from an Atherton-run joint, like a beautiful antique mirrored ceiling, a copper-topped bar, and some mismatched-yet-perfectly-coordinated wooden furniture.

The cocktail list is similarly well thought out, hitting the exact sweet-spot between classic and experimental, with drinks including the Queen Bee (pollen-infused gin, mead, honey liqueur and ‘New Forest syrup’); the Rhubarb & Custard (rhubarb wine, martini bitter, sloe gin and custard) and the Pea-T (with peated whisky and sugar snap pea cordial). Almost every one of them can be made without the booze, too.

Being technically attached to the critically lauded Social Eating House is no bad thing either, with the kitchen of the downstairs restaurant sending up bar bites like fried chicken with yogurt, miso, mirin, and soy; or a jar of confit duck rillet, with mango and coriander…

You won’t believe your eyes.

NOTE: The Blind Pig is open Monday to Thursday, 3pm-12am, and Friday – Saturday, 1pm-12am. To book a table, you can call 020 7993 3251.
