The Lost Temple Of Fire Island | The Last Lost Lectures
“I didn’t say that.” – Gandhi
This quote helps to remind us that the most reliable way of understanding the world we live in isn’t always by reading other peoples’ accounts of the past. Sometimes, just sometimes, it’s better to ingest the knowledge of the people who are making their mark on the world today. Whilst also roasting marshmallows in a firepit.
It’s an observation which handily brings us to the sad news that The Lost Lectures is shutting up shop. But before they do, they’re hosting the very last in their series of stimulating, mind-expanding candlelit talks which have, for the past four years, tickled Londoners’ taste buds and minds through their potent and unique combination of controversial speakers, stunning locations, street food and booze.
It’s called The Lost Temple Of Fire Island; it’s landing in a beautiful (and top secret) East London location on 5th and 6th November; those who attend will be welcomed into a vast interior steeped in flame, ritual and tribal intrigue filled with food courtesy of Street Feast alumni, indoor and outdoor bars, firepits for marshmallow roasting and explosive demonstrations from their resident pyrotechnician; plus, most importantly, there’ll be five lectures and a musical performance each night.
Just some of those speaking include Asifa Lahore (the UK’s first-out, Muslim Drag Queen), world-leading artificial intelligence academic, Sir Nigel Shadbolt; London Afrobeat Collective (one of the most notorious live acts in London); controversial performance artist, Scottee; and Andrew Hosken (discussing his exposé on the inner workings of ISIS).
“You should go.” – Gandhi
NOTE: The very last edition of The Lost Lectures is happening on 5th and 6th November 2015. If you would like, you can learn more and book tickets HERE.
