UNIQLO UT Pop Up (Partner Content)
Word on the street is…’graffiti’.
A fact which hopefully coincides with your desire to:
1) Expand your cultural horizons
2) Do something different, and
3) Prepare for summer. By buying a t-shirt.
Fortunately you’ll soon have the opportunity to do all three, courtesy of UNIQLO’s UT Pop Up at the Hoxton Gallery in The Arch. Running from 18th – 27th April, it’ll see a contemporary mélange of art, music, clothing and alternative events combine to form the sort of epic, urban celebration that all but the least curious will struggle to avoid…
Triple negative translation: “you’re going”.
The store itself – dedicated to UNIQLO’s new UT range – will be open every afternoon from the 18th to the 27th April (other than Thursday 25th) and backed up by a series of free, one-off creative events embodying the UT philosophy that “a t-shirt should be an expression of who you are”.
Which, in this case, is someone who likes art, music and t-shirts.
The focus of weekend #1: ART. The Arch will be transformed into downtown New York (in homage to legendary graffiti duo Jean Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring), and alongside DJ sets from the likes of Gabriel Bruce and Bullion there’ll be a private screening of the Keith Haring documentary and interactive workshops with influential artists and creative leaders.
And then taking the spotlight on weekend #2 is your old friend, MUSIC. Inspired by artists ranging from Madonna, AC/DC and The Who to David Bowie and Kiss, and with DJ sets peppered throughout the weekend, the space will be transformed into a music studio for a VIP party on Thursday 25th April, a live recording on the 26th with Charlie Boyer and The Voyeurs, and – on Saturday 27th – a record fair for independent labels.
