Soho's Getting £10 Plates Of Fresh Pasta

£10 plates of fresh pasta.

That’s the pitch at 27 Old Compton Street, a new restaurant about to open on (if you can believe it) Old Compton Street. It comes to us from restauranteur Nima Safaei, who already owns & runs two other restaurants in Soho – 40 Dean Street & 64 Old Compton Street – and is turning the neighbourhood into his own Monopoly board with one simple rule: if he can remember the address, so can you.

As with his other restaurants, the idea is to sling relatively affordable Italian food, but he’s taking things to another level – everything’s going to be priced between £10-£15, it’s going to be walk-ins only, and it’s going to have a fast, casual, pre-or-post-something-or-other kind of vibe. On the menu we can expect the likes of:

27 Old Compton

  • Rigatoni amatriciana with pancetta & chillies
  • Pumpkin, ricotta & sage ravioli
  • Gnocchi with cavolo nero & pesto
  • Paccheri puttanesca with tiger prawns
  • Pea risotto with broad beans & asparagus

Then, to wash it all down, there’ll be cocktails (including an Italian-style Bloody Mary, and a citrussey martini) as well as plenty of all-Italian wines by the glass. And they start at just £7.

Probably an address worth remembering.

NOTE: 27 Old Compton Street is set to open on 24th March. We’ll be back then with the full scoop. In the meantime, you can find out more at their Insta page.
