The menu at Berners Tavern was already pretty stacked…
…but now they’ve added afternoon tea.
In keeping with the traditions of Berners Tavern it’s been constructed with the kind of obsessive perfectionism that Jason Atherton’s restaurants tend to demand, and it’s all served on a traditionally tiered stand by an impeccably dressed, faultlessly polite member of staff. Here’s what you can expect:
Starting at the top and working our way down, there are the sunflower and poppy seed scones with goats curd and apple salad; Loch Duarte salmon tartare, pickled cucumber and crème fraiche; and poached chicken and truffle baguette with pickled mushroom. On the sweet side, you’ll find chocolate and sesame tart with yuzu curd; raspberry mousse with meringue and pink peppercorn; and rhubarb and ginger macaroon with violet.
The tea itself comes from a selection of their Afternoon Blend (which involved Shire Highland, Darjeeling, Yunnan, etc.); classic Earl Grey; some green tea; or a simple herbal infusion. And there’s also a Ruinart champagne trolley circulating the restaurant…
…if you’d like to take your afternoon tea up a level.
NOTE: Berners Tavern’s Afternoon Tea is available now, priced at £39.50 per person. You can make a booking, and find out more at their website right HERE.
