Borough Market Is Coming To Your Doorstep

UPDATE: This delivery service previously operated on a 10 mile radius; this has since been revised to 3.5 miles. Watch this space as they may be able to expand again soon.

Borough Market has been operating in London for 1000 years.

So if anywhere knows how to keep calm in a crisis, it’s this place.

The market – which is usually awash with 4.5 million visitors every year – is still open, though it’s a much, much quieter place than usual. They’re keeping their doors open as long as they can so they can continue to both serve both the local community as a kind of open-air supermarket, and allow traders to support themselves – while reducing staff numbers to keep everyone as safe as possible. They’ve painted guides on the ground to mark 2m gaps, have spaced out the produce stalls, and are operating transactions with an impressive efficiency. In, out, boom.

But here’s the really great part – even if you can’t get down there in person, you can still get the best of Borough Market’s famously wonderful produce on your doorstep. They launched their first ever delivery service last winter for local addresses, but they’re now extending that to a 3.5 mile radius.

These traders are all reliant on people’s custom for their livelihoods, so supporting them with a delivery order is a huge help to them – and something to brighten up your quarantine diet of pot noodles and mystery tinned items discovered at the back of your cupboards.

Happy shopping, folks.

NOTE: Borough Market’s delivery service is very popular right now, so if it initially says it can’t deliver to your postcode, wait an hour or two then give it another go – they’ll be keen to serve you when they can. You can find out more, and make an order, HERE.
