London's Getting A New Food Hall With An Indoor Farm

Here’s a new angle on the humble food hall: Corner Corner, which is set to open in Canada Water this spring, is going to not only have a cornucopia of restaurants across its 55,000 sq ft, but also an entire indoor vertical farm growing 200+ types of crops to supply those restaurants.

And on top of that, it’s also going to have live music from a modern jazz club, plus immersive live events, and basically be a huge cultural hub too.

So… either a utopian vision of food and culture, or just a really cool food court. Only time will tell.

The culinary side of this absurdly ambitious equation is going to be handled by the folks at KERB, whose street-food credentials are impeccable, while the indoor farm side will be handled by the folks at Harvest London, who have been doing this for almost a decade now. Hopefully, they can pull it off, so when they say ‘farm to table’, they actually mean from ‘just behind you’.

But it’s not just about eating – Corner Corner wants to be a cultural hub too. Broadwick, the team behind venues like Drumsheds and Battersea Power Station’s Control Room A, will be in charge of the music. Expect a packed programme, including resident DJs every Thursday and live jazz on Fridays and Saturdays.

And as for those immersive events? Things will be kicking off in big style with Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue, which is a properly huge event spanning seven rooms of fully built-out, interactive action. You can sign up for the waitlist now.

It’s still awaiting approval, but it’s all set to land in the vast Canada Water Masterplan, which is essentially an effort to create a whole new town within East London. Assuming it gets the necessary rubber stamps from the council, Corner Corner will – at the very least – be an interesting experiment in the ongoing evolution of food, space, and spectacle. And it’s set to open pretty soon too, in spring.

Meaning it’s just around the corner.

NOTE: Corner Corner is set to open this spring. We’ll be back then with the full scoop. In the meantime you can keep an eye on their super-angular website.
