Good news: the team behind Soho’s Firebird are opening a new place, and although it won’t have the same live-fire setup, it’s looking like it’ll be just as hot.
It’s going to be called Noisy Oyster, and it’ll be hitting Shoreditch in the spring of 2025. Details are, to put it generously, scant. But they haven’t entirely clammed up about it, so here’s what we do know: the plan is for it to be a bistro specialising in sustainable seafood on the restaurant side, and martinis on the bar side.
The food will also see “a menu rich in local oysters, crudo and whole fish” as well as some “simple, seasonal vegetable-based dishes” to round things out, and the bar will be serving up a menu of mini martinis – the idea being that you can try a couple of different varieties, and you can pair them up with the food, too.
You’ll find it, when it opens, sandwiched between Dennis Severs’ House, and Kolamba East, just off the stretch of road between Liverpool Street & Shoreditch High Street. Inside, there’ll be room for around 50 people, in a space that’s being designed by the achingly cool outfit Crosby Studios, who are aiming for “a minimalist yet distinctive environment that combines classic European bistro charm with modern aesthetics”. So, just try to picture that in your head.
The couple behind this whole enterprise are Madina Kazhimova (the restaurateur) and Anna Dolgushina (the wine expert), and together they’ve now opened restaurants in both London & St Petersburg to roaring success each time.
So, hopefully this Oyster will turn out to be another pearl…
NOTE: Noisy Oyster is set to open in spring of 2025. We’ll be back then with the full scoop. In the meantime, you can check out the Noisy Oyster website.
