The Lightroom's Next Show Will Have Life-Sized Dinosaurs

The Lightroom is about four storeys high and 26 meters long. You know what else has those exact dimensions? A Brachiosaurus.

Which means that the immersive venue’s new show, coming next summer, is going to have some very literally life sized sauropods thundering across the massive wall-to-wall-to-ceiling-to-floor screens.

The show itself is going to be called Prehistoric Planet: Discovering Dinosaurs, and it’ll be drawn directly from the documentaries currently showing on Apple’s streaming service, narrated by none other than Sir David Attenborough. His name isn’t mentioned in the press info though, so it’s unclear as to whether either him or his vocal chords will be involved.

What will be involved? Well, you’ll get to see a medley of the first two seasons of the show, including “a vast array of dinosaurs (from Ammonites to Mosasaurs, Adaltheriums to the Tyrannosaurus rex)”. There’ll be some never-before-seen stuff, plus extra CGI, and extended scenes. And it’ll all be underpinned by Hans Zimmer’s original score. The show itself has won a few awards, mostly for its visual effects, and that’s quite important in this context.

The Lightroom has been impressing quite a bit with its content so far, from David Hockney’s art-filled show, to the mind-blowing Moonwalkers, and the inspiring Vogue: Inventing the Runway that’s showing now…

…so hopefully this one will keep them evolving in the right direction.

NOTE: Prehistoric Planet: Discovering Dinosaurs is set to open in summer 2025. We’ll be back as soon as tickets & launch dates are announced. In the meantime, you can sign up for email alerts and find out more at the Lightroom website.
