If your faith in humanity is, somehow, still clinging on by some minuscule thread, then prepare for it to be ruthlessly severed by your own friends and/or family — because the back-stab-a-thon that is The Traitors is being turned into an immersive experience.
It’s arriving somewhere in London, sometime next year. And yes, that’s not a gigantic amount of detail, but here’s what we do know.
You’ll all sit around one of the iconic round tables, sat with your own group, and probably some strangers too. Your Non-Winkleman host will then perform the ritualistic, blindfold Traitors selection ceremony – anyone can be any role, and stab any back.
Then the missions start, and you’ll scrabble to build up a pot of god for your team, all the while evading detection (or detecting those evading detection) and aiming to claim ultimate victory. All told, it’ll take roughly two and a half hours, and afterwards there’s an official Traitors Bar for you to all dissect, deny, and dramatically rehash the astonishingly casual betrayal that just happened.
The experience mirrors the gameplay you know and love (or fear) from the TV show, with a few unexpected twists to keep you guessing. If the idea of being a Traitor makes you feel a bit queasy, you can opt out. That said, there’s always the chance of a sneaky recruitment mid-game. Either way, your job is to play your role and keep it secret.
The company in charge of this whole endeavour is Immersive Everywhere, whose immersive experience track record is actually pretty decent. They’re responsible for The Great Gatsby, Peaky Blinders: The Rise, Doctor Who: Time Fracture, and The Choir Of Man. All told, they seem to know how to pull off a decent piece of entertainment.
As adaptations go? This one sounds like one of the faithful…
NOTE: The Traitors: Live Experience is set to launch in spring 2025. You can find out more, and sign up for the ticket waitlist at the Traitors Live website
