Wes Anderson has been weaving himself into the fabric of poplar culture in a big way recently, with the latest showcase of his whimsically quirky signature style being the entirely unofficial show Accidentally Wes Anderson.
Well, now he’s getting a new exhibition, and this one’s on purpose.
It’s just going to be called Wes Anderson, and it’s actually being produced in partnership with Wes Anderson himself (as well as his production company, and the Cinémathèque Française organisation) who’ll be giving the show runners access to his own personal archives, as well as original props, costumes, behind-the-scenes footage, inspirations, and more.
Those show runners are the people at The Design Museum, and before you get all exited, the exhibition is slated to launch in November …2025. Which, according to his average output since the year 1996 is enough time for another 0.4 Wes Anderson movies to have been released. Possibly even his next flick, which is apparently a spy movie called The Phoenician Scheme.
Of course, if you’re craving a hit of cultural ephemera from a visually distinctive cult American director and you need it a lot sooner than that, then you’ll be happy to know that the Design Museum is opening its show all about Tim Burton this November.
Which has a pleasing symmetry to it.
NOTE: Wes Anderson is set to open at The Design Museum in November 2025. In the meantime, you can keep an eye on the Design Museum website.
