Jeow Jeow | Filipino food at the Sun & 13 Cantons
Jeow Jeow, we’re told, is supposed to be pronounced so that it rhymes with ‘plough plough’.
And it’s plough ploughing its way through London’s pop up restaurant scene with extraordinary ease.
Settled in at The Sun & 13 Cantons until mid-September, Jeow Jeow is a Thai and Laotian fusion, loosely inspired by chef Tania Steytler (formerly of Snaps + Rye) and food writer Bill Knot’s travels along the Mekong river.
The reviews have been outstanding, and the dishes – like fried Winterborne Trout with a sugared chilli dressing; or an “addictively hot” crunchy papaya salad made in a pestle + mortar – pack a serious punch.
Get down there, or regret it forever.
