Rita’s At Redchurch Brewery

Rita’s At Redchurch Brewery | Bethnal Green Kitchen Residency

Taprooms are, obviously, one of the best places to drink craft beer.

But as a dining destination they remain largely… untapped.

So it’s fairly big news that Bethnal Green hophouse Redchurch Brewery has introduced a proper kitchen into its brewery-meets-bar. But it’s even bigger news that the folks manning the pans there are none other than Rita’s, the much-loved and much-missed Hackney eatery that closed in 2016.

In the intervening years, they’ve been busy travelling the world and soaking up inspiration for the grub they’re serving here, with chef Gabriel Pryce completing stints at top restaurants like Brawn, Brat and The Marksman.

Taking over the whole ground floor, there’s room for 24 here, and dishes are ordered off the menu using a dim sum-style system, pencilling in the amount you fancy. And you’ll want to try a lot – there’s snack dishes like beer pickles and hot bean devilled egg; sharing plates of Thai spice sardine crostini, clams with sweetcorn and chilli, plus Swaledale lamb with roasted tomatoes and spicy greens. And if beer’s not for you, you can wash it all down with a (mostly vegan-friendly) wine list, or a couple of cocktails from Rita’s co-founder, Missy Flynn.

Better hop to it.

NOTE: Rita’s at Redchurch Brewery runs Thursday – Saturday 5-11pm and Sunday 12-5pm, until 1st December. You can reserve for groups of 6+ by emailing [email protected]. Please note the bar and restaurant take card only.
