Fulham Beach, the sandy Thames-side resort, was pretty popular this summer.
But now they’ve converted it into Winterland, and well, things have snowballed.
It’s out with the beachy day beds and truckloads of sand, and in with all the things you’d usually expect of a cosy, alpine pop up – like fur-lined private chalets, heated ski lift cabins, fire pits, and a hunting lodge full of hot cocktails and hot cheese.
When not reclining in your own private chalet, igloo or blanketed corner, you can try your hand at the old-school arcade games. And if you’re not into activities which can’t cause potentially devastating embarrassment? There’s always the hunting lodge dance floor, where you’ll find DJs on Friday & Saturday nights.
The Alpine theme extends to the food, with fondue, rotisserie chicken and baked camembert on the menu – and you’ll be able to get all that delivered to your own personal chalet or igloo for the night, or hunker down at long feasting tables in the fairy-lit Bavarian tent.
Mosey through the Lodge and you’ll find the Moose Bar, serving up beer and mulled wine, plus hot cocktails (like Il Bombadino, combining brandy and cream), boozy hot chocolates, and other festive winter drinks…
…but sadly, no Snowballs.
