Ace Hotel Shoreditch

Ace Hotel Shoreditch | Shoreditch Hotel with Restaurant & Club

The Ace Hotel.

It acts as both a name and a review.

Although on walking past the impressive, foliage backed, slate grey and glass entrance and into the open lobby, scattered with millennials at the co-working space, wielding laptops and cocktails, it’s evident that this is much more than just a hotel.

Let’s start in the restaurant, Hoi Polloi.

Created by the owners of Bistrotheque, the interior gives a whole new meaning to the word shapely: tongue and groove wood panels run the perimeter of the room. Hexagonal tiling adorns the floor, while grapefruit sized spherical bulbs give it a golden hue. Add in some geometrical light fittings and you’ve pretty much got the inside of Will Hunting’s head.

Grab a drink while your eyes adjust – one of the 7 house cocktails should do it, try the Nanti Sour (bourbon, clove, bergamot, golden syrup, vanilla bitters and aquafaba to make it vegan) – and they also have a short but well-curated list of London’s craft beers and softs from East London Juice Co.

The menu is centred around classic British plates. A terrine, a steak (onglet) and a pie (chicken & ham) all feature, as well as braised lamb shoulder; mussel, crab and clam linguine and sea bream.

Head back out into the lobby for a post-dinner drink. You’ll need to decide whether to sit on the high stools at the matte copper and steel gallery bar and watch over the buzzy lobby, or, if it’s a clear night, head up to the rooftop bar and have a drink under the festoon lighting while gazing at the city skyline through the giant purple telescope you’ll find up there.

Well fed & watered, if metabolising hasn’t sent you into a post-dinner lull, head down to Miranda, the basement venue. They run different club nights including DJ sets, gigs, drag nights and comedy events. Check out the website below to see what’s on and plan your night around it.

Whatever it is, it’ll be ace.

NOTE: Hoi Polloi is open from 7am-11.30pm daily. Miranda is usually open until 2am. For more information, or to make a booking, head to their website HERE. Please note the rooftop is only open to those who have booked online for Saturday night drinks or Sunday brunch.
