In thumbing through your Bucket List of dreams and ambitions – which, yes, we have access to – we stumbled across an entry that involved you soaking up the majesty of Machu Picchu and taking a boat ride on “Lake Titicaca” *snigger* as part of a once-in-a-lifetime voyage to the wondrous Peru.
And regarding that, we have good news and bad news. The bad news is: we aren’t able to send you on that trip. The good news though, is that we can do the next best thing, and brought Peru to you – in the form of brand new Peruvian picanteria, Andina.
The creation of Martin Morales (founder of Ceviche in Soho), Andina’s inspired by the picanterias that pepper the Andes: local, traditional restaurants serving up healthy Peruvian fare in the sort of rustic Andean homes that have inspired the cosy interiors at this place.
Morales has created an all-day menu (regularly refreshed) that includes Peruvian dishes like a chicharron sandwich ‘pan con chicharron’ with juicy bites of confit pork belly in a soft bun with camote ketchup & salsa criolla; some classic Peruvian ceviche ‘ceviche peruano’ with seabass, classic tiger’s milk, sweet potato, red onion, andean corn, and cancha corn nuts; and an extraordinary grilled octopus ‘pulpo a la parrilla’ with a sweet chancaca glaze & a butterbean and lúcuma purée. And for dessert? Traditional pumpkin doughnuts with cinnamon cream.
But there’s more… because downstairs you’ll also find a moody, subterranean Andina’s dedicated Pisco & Chicha Bar where you can get yourself the city’s best pisco sour.
