Audrey’s

When the weather finally stops scrapping over whether it’s meant to be winter or spring, and the summer comes along and steamrolls everything into glorious, sunshine-soaked submission, you’re going to need a friend with a huge terrace to stretch out on, and spend all day drinking cocktails.

Allow us to introduce you. Her name’s Audrey.

You’ll find this terrace – and the pretty cute-looking café attached to it – by Flat Iron Square, down in London Bridge. The team behind it have already cut their teeth with big-hitter venues like Omeara (which is just a stone’s throw away, also being in Flat Iron Square) and Goods Way up in King’s Cross.

Fashioned from a former Victorian public loo, it’s a dinky bungalow with red striped awnings shading al fresco diners, and a few more tables parked inside.

Audrey’s is currently open Wednesday-Saturday, with a bistro-style menu featuring organic and sustainably-grown produce. Tip up in the morning for diner-style breakfast muffins, schnitzel toasties and rhubarb crumble porridge – or watch the sun go down over sharing plates of roast cod and aged ribeye steak, Cobb salads and cheeseboards sourced from Neal’s Yard Dairy over in Borough Market.

Cocktails are served at Audrey’s from 10am – breakfast martinis and a potent Bloody Mary being the order of the day – but house cocktails like Sherry’s Date (bourbon, sherry and orange liqueur) and the Spicy Margarita make good sundowners. Given that it’s all nestled under the shade of two enormous, sun-dappling plane trees, it’s the perfect spot to take someone special and say those three little words…

Pass the Piriton.

NOTE: Audrey’s is open Wed-Sat, plus Tuesdays for takeaway. You can find out more, and book a table (for dining only) HERE.
