A classic City speakeasy is getting a new restaurant above it...

Barullo | Liverpool Street Spanish Restaurant & Speakeasy

They say when one door closes, another opens.

A rule which apparently applies to both doors and Spanish restaurants belonging to Victor Garvey.

Because after closing his much-loved venues Encant & Sibarita in Covent Garden, he’s now opening Barullo in The City and Bar Jaleo in Soho.

The former is the one we’re concerned with today, particularly because it’s going to sit directly above BYOC East (which Garvey has already taken over, and added his own twist to).

The place will be just as deeply Spanish as his other venues, with everything from tapas, to paella, to modern-style dishes on the menu. So far, we’re told we can expect the likes of roasted & pressed suckling pig with salsa verde, kohlrabi & green apple slaw; saffron paella with giant prawns and fire-roasted peppers; and Kiko Fried Chicken brined in sherry, dusted in roasted corn nuts, and fried with alegria pepper.

The doors are due to open after another one closes this March.

NOTE: Barullo is due to open this March. We’ll be back then with the full scoop. In the meantime, you can find out more at their Twitter feed HERE.
