Bombay Delight

Exciting news for Wimbledon- it just got a lot more daal.

And it’s all thanks to Bombay Delight, a new modern Indian spot parked on the Broadway.

The outfit actually started life as a delivery operation in Nine Elms during the lockdown, and people liked it enough that they’ve now opened a real restaurant, with bricks and mortar, cutlery and everything.

You’ll find it on the Broadway, on the elbow as it rounds the corner from South Wimbledon station. Head inside, and you’ll be welcomed into an inviting armchair filled lounge. From that, through to the private dining room at the back, and via the lengthy bar in between, the vibe is easy going, warm and colourful, without ever going OTT. If you pay attention to the artwork you’ll see a nod to Indian history subtly detailed in the paintings. It’s genuinely quite lovely.

On the menu, you’ll see all the staples we all know and love – Tikka Masala, Korma, Rogan Josh, ect. – but Bombay Delight is very much a modern curry house, and they go the extra mile offering regional dishes that you might not be able to get everywhere else, such as rich & sticky tamarind wings, and a creamy avocado chat. The food is pretty much uniformly delicious, with many of the dishes taken up a hefty notch from the classic curry baseline – instead of being vaguely yellow, their korma is a creamy white, the meat is tenderness itself, and it tastes as silky as it looks.

And to drink? The impressively sized bar includes an impressively sized wine list, as well as cocktails and even their own house-brewed beer.

Even the modern curry houses need that.
