Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings | Clerkenwell Restaurant & Bar
Someone contacted us recently to claim that we don’t understand irony.
Which was ironic because Bourne & Hollingsworth – the creative types behind two of London’s best cocktail bars, The Blitz Party, The Prohibition Party and lots of other things that many Londoners enjoy – have just opened a new restaurant and bar in Clerkenwell.
It’s called Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings, it’s located just off Exmouth Market…and when you go inside, you’ll feel like you’re still outside.
This is thanks in large part to the restaurant – where Parisian head chef Alex Visciano is serving up a relaxed menu of contemporary British fare and bottomless brunches – being located inside a greenhouse that’s filled with cane garden furniture, hanging baskets, fully grown trees and trailing creepers. To help you picture it, just think back to the last time you found yourself eating tempura cod fillet with mushy peas and caramel fondant with chocolate ice cream inside an abandoned country house where the gardens and the state rooms had slowly grown into one another.
This place is just like that.
In addition to a collection of private rooms there’s also the Café, a relaxed dining and working space; The B&H Kitchen, a private dining room that doubles as a workshop and masterclass studio; Below & Hidden, a deeply snug drinking den covered with crazy LED-illuminated tapestries; aaand the main cocktail bar, a space influenced by a “Grand Café” which opens out onto the street and the park beyond. In there you’ll find Mr. Steve Georgiou maintaining Bourne & Hollingsworth’s sterling reputation for drinksmithery by serving up cocktails with names like ‘The Apricot Smash’ and ‘The Eton Fizz”.
Which is also ironic.
NOTE: Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings is open Mon – Thurs (10am – Midnight), Fri – Sat (10am – 1am), Sun (10am – 6pm). You can reserve a table online HERE.
