Bubbledogs | Champagne & hotdogs in Fitzrovia
Despite its longstanding aspiration to become more… to be more… it’s so far only ever managed to attract the attention of BBQ-ers, cinema-goers and – at the very peak of its humble ascendancy – street food aficionados.
A life, unfulfilled.
Because – after nobly feeding the hand that bites it since 1870 – the hotdog’s finally made the big time. It’s been paired with a champagne bar and given a little Fitzrovia restaurant all of its very own… Bubbledogs.
On a casual dining bench, sitting under glass bubble lighting and enveloped by a beautiful purple wall, you’ll enjoy the contrast of a glass of under-appreciated “grower” champagne (starting at £7) with a choice of ‘dogs (also starting at £7) that include the Eastern Odyssey (spicy garlic mayo, pickled vegetables, peanut powder), the BLT (maple & black pepper glazed bacon chips, truffle mayo), and the Fourth of July (with smokey BBQ sauce & coleslaw).
And if you want dessert, but still aren’t finished eating hotdogs? The dilemma is conveniently solved with their dessert hotdog – it’s a chocolate hotdog with a Valrhona chocolate ganache, all stuffed in a long sweet cinnamon brioche bun.
NOTE: Bubbledogs is open for dinner Tues-Sat, and lunch on Fri & Sat. You can find out more, and make a booking at their website right HERE.
ALSO NOTE: At the back of the restaurant is a little set of steps – hidden by a curtain – which leads to Head Chef James Knappett’s Two Michelin Starred restaurant, Kitchen Table. It consists of a long circular dining counter – with James cooking, and chatting, on the inside – where up to 19 diners can enjoy his contemporary European tasting menus.
