Bubbledogs | Fitzrovia Bar and Diner
NOTE: Bubbledogs is currently closed for refurbishment until 30th April 2019. We’ll be back with the full scoop when they reopen…
Despite its longstanding aspiration to become more… to be more… it’s so far only ever managed to attract the attention of BBQ-ers, cinema-goers and – at the very peak of its humble ascendancy – street food aficionados.
A life, unfulfilled.
Because – after nobly feeding the hand that bites it since 1870 – the hotdog’s finally made the big time. It’s been paired with a champagne bar and given a little Fitzrovia restaurant all of its very own… Bubbledogs.
On a casual dining bench, sitting under glass bubble lighting and enveloped by exposed brickwork and sauna-style wood panelling you’ll enjoy the contrast of a glass of under-appreciated “grower” champagne (starting at £6) with a choice of ‘dogs (also starting at £6) that include the Jose (guacamole, sour cream, salsa and jalapeños), the Buffalo Dog (deep fried with spicy buffalo sauce and blue cheese), and the Fourth of July (bacon-wrapped, with smokey BBQ sauce).
And, yes of course – as is customary for the launch of every new champagne bar – someone will almost definitely be throwing a ship at it later on today.
NOTE: Bubbledogs is currently closed for refurbishment until 30th April 2019.
ALSO NOTE: At the back of the restaurant is a little set of steps – hidden by a curtain – which leads to Head Chef James Knappett’s Michelin Starred restaurant, Kitchen Table. It consists of a long circular dining counter – with James cooking, and chatting, on the inside – where up to 19 diners can enjoy his contemporary European tasting menus.
