You don’t need a visa to visit Borough Market.
An observation which might seem astonishingly irrelevant were it not for the fact that a fantastic little Parisian canteen is about to open its doors there, promising to transport you to the City of Light by way of an authentic all-day menu of French patisserie, rotisserie chicken, and many other things not ending in ‘-isserie’.
And you, mon ami, are about to take a trip there before anyone else, courtesy of a couple of exclusive Nudge Member preview dinners on 16th & 17th September, with 50% off the bill for your troubles.
Café François is a sophomore spot for the team behind Maison François, which might lead you to assume it will be both stylish and delicious. And you’d be right. Nestling into a space in Borough Yards, the interiors will throw together industrial touches like metal tracery and a colossal spiral staircase with exposed brickwork and arched ceilings. At the entrance, a rotisserie oven housing rows of golden, crispy-skinned whole chickens will act as a very visual menu. And upstairs in the main dining area, you’ll be able to watch the patisserie team crafting everything from scratch in the glass-walled bakery.
Beyond this, exec chef Matthew Ryle will keep busy preparing a breakfast menu of egg dishes and morning sandwiches; lunchtime salads; and, come the evening, brasserie classics like Toulouse sausage with lentils, monkfish Vadouvan curry, and lobster frites to share.
Or not, if you’re feeling shellfish.
NOTE: Café François will open in mid September, but Nudge Members (+1) are getting in before anyone else with exclusive preview dinners on 16th & 17th September with 50% off the food bill. Check the Members’ box above for details.
