Cafe Pacifico | Long-Standing Mexican Joint
There’s an old Mexican proverb that goes a little like this,
“Cuando el río suena es que agua lleva.”
It means that if the river’s making a noise, there’s water in it.
Or, less literally, “if you hear rumours, there’s probably some truth to them…”.
Well there’s been a constantly-running stream of rumours about Cafe Pacifico for a long time, and all pretty much all good, since it opened its doors in Covent Garden almost 40 years ago.
While perhaps less famous than its next door neighbours on Langley Street, Pineapple Dance Studios and the second Hawksmoor, Cafe Pacifico remains one of London’s most authentic Mexican Cantina experiences (albeit a fairly kitsch one) and a bona fide London classic.
Do a couple of shots of tequila; enjoy a few margaritas and then tuck into some quesadillas, enchilladas, fajitas and burritos.
Just don’t take it too seriously….
Andale.
NOTE: Cafe Pacifico is open daily from noon till 10.45pm (11.45pm Wed-Sat). You can find out more, and book a table, HERE.
