Chicken Shop | Tooting Restaurant
A Nando’s chef recently spent two hours grilling a chicken.
However despite all of his efforts he still couldn’t get it to divulge the ingredients of the secret sauce used at Soho House’s smash hit Kentish Town rotisserie joint, Chicken Shop.
Which just goes to show that:
1) Chicken Shop’s clearly doing something right, and
2) Chickens are good at keeping secrets.
Anyway thanks to that chicken keeping schtum, Chicken Shop has managed to retain one of its primary competitive advantages in London’s burgeoning restaurant scene – the others being its intimate, candlelit diner-style interior and its paradox-of-choice-busting menu of spit-roasted chicken, chicken or chicken (accompanied by crinkle cut chips, ‘slaw, corn on the cob) – and open a second outpost in Tooting.
Just like the Kentish Town original, Chicken Shop Tooting’s laser-focused menu includes a small selection of beers and jugs of wine (categorised as “House, Decent or Good”); generous servings of either chocolate brownie, cheesecake or apple pie with vanilla ice-cream; and the option to takeaway.
Regarding the fact that it’s in Tooting, it’s worth noting that a lot of extremely influential and “in-the-know” people (who own property in Tooting) have been yelling from the rooftops that it’s like literally the place to be right now…
But clearly you’ll be the judge of that.
NOTE: Chicken Shop is now open. No bookings, just turn up…
