Alan Yau is cooking up a "Chinese River Cafe"

Chyna | Alan Yau comes to the Docklands

Hakkasan. Yauatcha. Park Chinois.

When Alan Yau announces a new restaurant, people tend to pay attention.

And, well, he’s announced a new restaurant. A big one. Called Chyna, he’s billing it as a “Chinese River Cafe”, and it’ll sit in the huge Wardian development in Canary Wharf where it’ll overlook the South Dock. There’ll be enough room for 120 diners, and there’ll be a nice waterside terrace too.

Menu details are understandably a little bit scarce – but we do know that it’s going to involve Cantonese dishes made using British seafood, with the occasional high-end Spanish ingredient (Iberico ham, sea cucumbers, etc.) thrown in there for good measure.

Oh, and there’s one more tasty morsel of info: it’ll have a row of huge fish tanks called a ‘water market’ from which guests can pick the swimmers they want plated up. It’s all scheduled for sometime in 2020…

…assuming things go swimmingly.

NOTE: Chyna is due to open sometime in 2020. We’ll be back then with the full scoop. In the meantime, the closest thing to a website is Alan Yau’s Instagram right HERE.
