Circolo | Bombastic Fitzrovia restaurant
They say go large, or go home.
Well, The Big Mamma Group is not going home.
After their pretty spectacular success with Gloria (which, for those out of the loop, is the larger-than-life Italian trattoria recently opened in Shoreditch, and still causing regular lines around the block to get a table) the highly ambitious Parisian restaurant group Big Mamma is going to open a followup in Fitzrovia.
Called Circolo, it’ll cut the ribbon sometime this June. It’ll be understandably every bit as big, lavishly fun and opulent as Gloria, only with a slightly different Italian lilt: while Gloria focuses on the Amalfi Coast of the ’70s. Circolo, we’re told, will plant its inspirational flag in Sicily.
What does that mean? Well, it means the place will be a “heavily planted Italian paradise” with thousands of festoon lights hung from the ceiling, and a huge 60-seater terrace outside. Inside, the walls will be lined with over 20,000 spirit bottles, and the tables will seat up to a dozen people.
On the menu, you can expect everything to be gloriously over-the-top too, including the likes of meter-long pizzas, pasta shaped like “a giant silken handkerchief”, cookie-laced 1-litre sundaes, and a lot more.
We’ll Circolo back around when it opens.
NOTE: Circolo is due to open in June. We’ll be back then with the full scoop. In the meantime, you can find out more at their Insta right HERE.
