Claude Bosi at Bibendum | Michelin Star Dining in a Striking Setting
Michelin Starred food.
Eat enough, and you’ll end up with a couple of spare tires.
And you can finally do that at Bibendum, the famed Kensington restaurant set in Michelin House (a former Michelin tyre factory) sporting several huge stained glass window designs featuring the Michelin Man. Because in a stroke of thick, rubber-coated irony, it was 30 years before the restaurant actually won a Michelin star.
That’s all done to esteemed chef Claude Bosi, whose former restaurant Hibiscus won two Stars in its time, and who came in swinging here, earning Bibendum a staggering debut of 2 Michelin Stars in the 2018 guide. He’s opted to keep the interior much the same as it’s always been – it was, after all, designed by Sir Terence Conran – with light pastel blue chairs and white walls, but the place has been divided up into two parts:
DOWNSTAIRS
You’ll find a simple seafood restaurant with an oyster bar, putting out dishes like dressed Cornish crab, and lobster aioli with tarragon. Meanwhile,
UPSTAIRS
Is where you can go for the full on Michelin-starred, bells & whistles, fine-dining experience. Dishes include starters like creamed morels on brioche, or smoked eel with bacon. Going larger, you can dive into a Galician beef fillet poached in a thick stock, or Dover Sole Farcie for two.
Just don’t eat too much.
You might get tired.
NOTE: Claude Bosi at Bibendum is open from Tuesday to Saturday. You can check out their website and book a table right HERE.
