CLAW | Carnaby Seafood Restaurant
You’re better off getting them before a night out than after.
More specifically, the kind you really want are the ones that have been sustainably and responsibly sourced from Start Bay in Devon, directly from the fishermen, by the folks at crustaceous eatery CLAW. Who, by the way, come with a great resumé. Founder Fabian Clark was awarded the 2015 Virgin Foodpreneur Award – as illustrious as it is awkward to pronounce – and their street food has previously popped up in all kinds of places, from Soho’s 13 Cantons to Broadgate Square’s micro gastro village.
Which brings us to the big news: they’ve finally made it on to solid ground with their first permanent restaurant. It’s arrived in the back streets of Carnaby, serving up an expanded menu that edges into turf as well as surf territory. Heading up the breakfast offerings are bacon and scallop muffins, and chilli scrambled eggs with crab and samphire; while later in the day you’ll be able to get your hands on fried chicken and caviar; pork stuffed squid with kaffir lime; and crab beignets with crab mayonnaise – plus takeaway classics like their lobster roll.
Trust us. It’s worth shelling out for.
NOTE: CLAW is now open daily from noon. You can find out more and make a booking on their website HERE.
