Cutter & Squidge

Cutter & Squidge | A Sweet Pitstop In The Backstreets of Soho

Britain without tea just wouldn’t be the same.

In fact, we’d have to call it Briain.

So thank goodness for tea, and particularly for afternoon tea, which is essentially a very good excuse to have an entire extra meal between lunch and dinner. And if you’re going to have it anywhere, you might as well have it tucked away in a potions classroom beneath the labyrinthine backstreets of Soho.

Set on two levels, Cutter & Squidge’s basement is the home of London’s original magical afternoon tea in The Potion Room, which variously involves donning cloaks; mixing potent cocktails; and sipping blue tea.

Back upstairs, you’ll find a dinky café filled with teetering stacked cakes, macarons and biscuits to eat in or take away. Highlights include their signature biskies – a hybrid of biscuit, cookie and cake with a buttercream and fruit filling – and the inventive drinks (try a lychee rose latte if you want to have both your tongue and your eyeballs simultaneously wowed). There’s also an impressive vegan and gluten-free offering, as well as a more traditional afternoon tea.

Which might suit the tea-total.

NOTE: Cutter & Squidge is open daily, 11am-7pm. You can find out more, and book here.
