It seems to be blooming.
And now, just off the marketplace, you’ll find the beautiful restaurant attached to the Henrietta Hotel, a sister to the Grand Pigalle in Paris which comes to you from the Parisian trio behind the Experimental Cocktail Club, and La Compagnie des Vins Surnaturels.
Found on the ground floor of the townhouse building, the restaurant occupies a slender sleeve of a space. At the front is a glossy, marble-accented bar, serving up espressos by day and signature cocktails by night, like the Cloud of Witness with cognac, cachaça, lychee, clarified milk and jasmine.
Head towards the back of the space, and you’ll find a tightly knit cluster of tables for two and curved, velvet banquette seating, all illuminated by a skylight overhead.
Da Henrietta comes to you from the Venetian restaurateurs Italian Supper Club, a.k.a Silvio Pezzana and Toto Dell’Aringa. What they’ve put together here is an elevated hit-list menu of Italian classics. You’ll find starters of grilled leek with onion purée and smoked ricotta; pasta dishes like bucatini with artichoke carbonara and duck ragout pappardelle; and hefty mains of steak tagliata with celeriac mash; or squid a la plancha with cannellini beans.
To wash it all down? You can get those cocktails brought over, or take your pick from a concise list of wines that champions small Italian west coast producers.
