Eight Over Eight | Chelsea Asian Restaurant
If you’re going to be pedantic, eight over eight is one…
…of the best pan Asian restaurants in the city.
From the people at Ricker Restaurants – the ones behind iconic hidden bar/restaurant La Bodega Negra – 8O8 fits comfortably into the cooler end of The Kings Road thanks to the sleek contrast of its black wood furnishings & white tablecloths, which manages to be neither too minimalist, nor too overstated.
The menu covers the best bits of Aisa, with Dim Sum (crispy pork belly with black vinegar, chilli salt squid, spare ribs with black bean, etc.); curries (grilled chicken with aubergine & okra); Korean BBQ (lamb with kimchi); sushi & sashimi (flamed salmon with avocado maki, yellowtail with chilli vinaigrette, etc); and a dozen other numbers including soft shelled crab, Pad Thai, and a duck & watermelon salad.
The wine menu here is helpfully broken down into categories like ‘rich & rounded’, or ‘aromatic & fruity’, making it considerably easier to navigate, while cocktails include house numbers like the Rose Petal Martini (with gin, lychee, and indeed rose), or the Yellow Submarine with yuzu sake & Cointreau.
THE BOTTOMLESS BRUNCH
Head down on a weekend, and you can get in on their unlimited dumpling menu, all to be washed down with unlimited glasses of prosecco, house wine, or beer for 90mins, in what amounts to a supermarket sweep for your belly. Just don’t go crazy.
It’s all too easy to say you, ahem, over eight.
NOTE: Eight Over Eight is open now. You can book a table, and find out more at their website right HERE.
