Encant | Covent Garden Restaurant

NOTE: Encant has closed to allow Victor to focus on Rambla in Soho.

The solo debut from Victor Garvey, (who previously ran the kitchen at St Katharine Docks’ critically-fellated Bravas Tapas) Encant is located in Covent Garden. And there’s definitely something a little encanting about it.

If the first bite is with the eye, then the interiors here are practically an entire opening course: they’re among the most handsome in London, with everything from the sleek black tile walls, to the underlit copper countertop and the chaotically wire-strewn ceiling marrying together perfectly.

Your first actual bite – which can be washed down with Catalan-brewed beers and a collection of excellent Spanish wines – will be chosen from the equally handsome menu, featuring modern Spanish small plates like pancetta-wrapped quail with Pedro Ximenez jus; octopus with confit tomato, garlic chips & olive oil ‘caviar’; and Ibérico pork belly in a piquillo pepper glaze. The chef’s even importing the foie gras crema Catalana that he used to serve at Bravas.

By way of summary, we’ve written you a poem.

Chef Garvey is a lovely man,
His staff your wishes will grant,
So call your friends, and go to eat
Some tapas at Encant.

It took ages.
