Flesh & Buns Fitzrovia already serve some of the best Nikkei (Peruvian/Japanese) food in London.
And now, they’ve decided to brunch out.
For those who haven’t been, this is the second of Ross Shonhan’s (of Bone Daddies fame) izakaya-style bar restaurant’s. And while the original Covent Garden branch gives off far more grungy, moody vibes, Fitzrovia has a more elegant air about it, and even has ‘press for pisco’ buttons built into the smart wooden tables. Read more about it HERE.
For their new weekend brunch offering, the first thing you’ll need to decide is whether or not you want to get bottomless booze to go with everything. You can spring for free-flowing prosecco, red wine, or white wine.
Now, onto the food. First off, you’ll get snacks to start (curry & nori popcorn, plus chilli soy edamame beans) before moving onto the actual flesh and buns themselves: you can choose from the likes of rabbit kasu with fennel and apple salad; a crispy duck leg with plum sauce & beetroot pickle; wagyu rum steak with Korean steak sauce & cucumber pickle; among several others. There’s even a whole section of the menu from the in-house smoker (unique to this branch) – expect the likes of chilli miso brisket with red pickle, or beef short ribs with chipotle miso BBQ sauce. All of them come with a plate of leaves, cucumber, shiso, and their famed, hand-made steamed bao buns.
Finishing it all off, you can pick from a pair of desserts; either a Nutella croissant tai yaki with Milo soft-serve; or a sticky ginger pudding with crispy rice, and Hojicha tea ice cream…
…after which you’d better watch your own flesh & buns.
NOTE: Flesh & Buns Fitzrovia’s weekend brunch is available now, every Saturday & Sunday. Brunch costs £25 (bottomless booze is £15 supplementary). You can make a booking, and see the full menu right HERE.
