Jack certainly dodged a bullet by not eating those beans.
Thankfully though, it’s a risk you won’t really have to take at Jimmy’s BBQ Club.
Hitting the Southbank this May, it comes to us from Jimmy Garcia: prince of popups, tycoon of temporary restaurants, baron of BBQs, he’s been responsible for some of the best (and quickest-selling) foodie events in London over the past few years. And this latest venture is by far his biggest, and most ambitious yet. The Thames-side venue will be split into two areas, firstly the,
This will be a simple walk-up counter, where Big Green Egg BBQ’s will be permanently scorching quick, takeaway dishes like charred monkfish with tarragon mayo; or smoked & slow-roasted lamb shoulder. They’re all priced under a tenner, and can be washed down with a drink from the on-site bar, too. Then, sitting above all that, there’s the main event:
This bookable rooftop area will serve ever-evolving six-course tasting menus, cooked table-side by a chef on the BBQ built into the very table you’re sitting at. The menus themselves will be “interactive’ (that is, being as they’re cooked table-side you can get them done to your taste) and will include dishes like hand-dived Dorset scallops with coal-baked cauliflower; rare lamb cutlets served with salsa verde; and charred pineapple marinated in chilli and lime.
To top it all off, you’ll be able to toast marshmallows over table-top embers before adding biscuit, mini-marshmallows, and lashings of chocolate. And to top all that off, there’s a rooftop honesty bar with gin cocktails, 10-pint beer kegs for your table, and wines. Just don’t overindulge…
…you might hear the beans talk.
NOTE: Jimmy’s BBQ Club opens on May 20th. Tickets for the tasting menu cost £45, and are available to book right now at the website HERE.
ANOTHER NOTE: Nudge Members, naturally, will get something special – we’ve arranged for you to have two complimentary drink tokens if you book any date in the entire run.
