London Shell Co. Highgate | Fishmonger & Seafood Bar with the Best of British Fish
The Group behind London Shell Co. are heading into uncharted water: land.
You see, for their next adventure the folks behind restaurants-on-barges London Shell Co. and The Grand Duchess have decided to do things a little differently to their usual and open a 30-cover restaurant on dry land – almost like a regular restaurant – with a location in Parliament Hill by Hampstead Heath.
While you won’t be taken on a cruise around North London’s canals for this one or bob up and down moored on the banks of Paddington Central, the menu will still be sticking to their nautical roots: offering up the freshest, highest quality seafood from around the British Isles, caught daily from their trusted fishermen. Their careful sourcing is the key reason that their floating venues number among the best seafood restaurants in London (as fun as wining and dining on a boat is…). They’ve supplied a few snippets as to what you’ll be able to eat here as well: a whole Cornish crab, trout sausages & mash, and house-cured anchovies. Oysters will be on the menu too, and even better… they’ll be priced at £2 from 4-6pm each day.
Aside from functioning as a restaurant, this Highgate edition of London Shell Co. will be also serve as an off-trade wine shop, which might give you a little clue as to what you’ll able wash the food down with (besides water, obviously). And that’s not all, because the team has one more trick up its sleeve: selling fish. It’s something the group dipped their toes into (with success) during lockdown when their floating restaurants weren’t allowed to open, and given that this new location will be right opposite Bourne’s, Hampstead Heath residents are going to be spoilt for top-of-the-line catches.
It’s definitely going to be a big hook…
