Already with one successful Chiswick restaurant under his belt, Michael Nadra – chef/patron of inventively named restaurant Michael Nadra – went on to open another in Primrose Hill, which has established itself as one of the best restaurants in the area.
He’s kind of nailed the suburban-neighbourhood-eatery-sit-down-darling-it’s-Friday-let’s-have-a-glass-of-bubbles thing. The backlit, tan leather banquettes and mid-century furnishings blend quite nicely with more modern bare brick walls and floor-to-ceiling windows.
As for the food? Precise, artistic, contemporary plates reaffirm what you’re here for. Expect dishes like sautéed squid & scallops with broccoli & cauliflower couscous, and a smoked paprika dressing; and grilled black cod with honey, white peach, trope onions, broccoli, toasted almonds, sardines and tomato salsa.
Head to the martini bar before, after or for the night to revel in the Primrose Hill decadence of it all. But be warned – they have more versions than you can shake or stir a stick at, as well as a long list of classic cocktails and a solid 20 wines by the glass.
