Officina 00 Fitzrovia | Fresh Pasta in Central London
Officina 00, which means ‘Office 00’ in reference to the flour they use, is a fresh pasta restaurant in Shoreditch.
And now, they’ve opened a fresh pasta restaurant in an area with quite a lot of officinas: Fitzrovia.
It’s the work of a pair of chefs from Naples (Enzo Mirto & Elia Sebregondi) who cut their teeth in the kitchen of Roka & Kiln before opening their own joint back in 2019. Having survived the ravages that the last couple of years have taken on the restaurant world – and well, everyone – they’ve come out of the gates swinging, with a central London sophomore.
You’ll find it in a fancy new building just around the corner from Goodge Street station, and a very literal stone’s throw from the nucleus of restaurants on Charlotte Street. The space has had a little rustic warmth poured into it thanks to the simple wooden furnishings & bottle-green tiles along the wall – and an all-important pasta workshop in the window, from which you’ll be able to see the chefs busily kneading, rolling, and delicately shaping fresh pasta in all its wondrous variety.
That pasta goes into dishes like sweetcorn ravioli with girolles, pea shoots & parmesan; anolini parcels swimming in smoked shiitake broth, with soy & confit garlic butter; short twists of casarecce pasta with red & yellow datterino tomatoes, black olives, capers, chilli and parsley; and oversized ink ravioli bergese with egg yolk, crab, turmeric butter and mizuna (Japanese mustard greens).
To help ease this all down, there’s a concise – and very Italian – cocktail menu, with a couple of spritzes, a negroni here and there, and a limoncello martini to boot. And just to tip their caps to the local area, there’s going to be a London-born espresso martini made with cold brew coffee. Never had one?
It’s a real eye-opener.
