Welcome to Passo, a new eatery from the thus far faultless team behind Foley’s and Rum Kitchen, serving up Italian dining for lunch and dinner just off the Old Street roundabout.
Make your way inside and you’ll be met with the subtly neutral tones of the concrete floor & pillars, broken up with heavy oak feasting tables, a sleek marble bar, and a sprawling open kitchen proudly centrepieced by a copper-covered pizza oven. And whether you bravely head out to the heated terrace, or stay safely ensconced around one of their communal tables, it’s safe to say that you’ll likely encounter…
Helming the kitchen here is former Shoreditch House head chef Massimiliano Iaquinoto, who’s churning out fresh pizza and pasta on the daily, including the likes of burrata, tomato and langoustine ravioli; or some orecchiette with octopus and green olive ragout; wild boar pappardelle; and more. There are also lunch options to take away from the deli-style area up front which in the evening doubles up as a pre-dinner wine bar where they’re serving up –
Drafting in another pair of specialists, the wine list’s overseen by sommelier extraordinaire, Zeren Wilson (who’s previously turned his hand to the lists at Smoking Goat, Martello Hall and Arabica), while cocktails are the realm of mixologist Sam Anyanwu, who’s shaking up numbers like the Sweet B, with cognac, rum and Antica Formula vermouth; and the Classic Italian, with Aperol, Campari, honey syrup, prosecco and rosemary. Just don’t sample them too enthusiastically…
…or you might Passout.
NOTE: Passo is open 12-3pm and 5-10pm Mon-Wed, and 12-3pm, 5-11pm Thur-Sat. You can find out more and book on their website HERE.
