Village East may have closed its doors, but it’s staying loyal. The team behind it (and the Riding House Café) have given the place a complete makeover, teamed up with Tom Cenci (the former exec chef at Duck & Waffle) and drafted in a former barkeep at The Ned, Antonio del Monte, to head up the bar. You can expect late-night toasties, seasonal dishes like venison tartare with beef dripping and gurnard with crab bisque and seaweed, served alongside flights of wines in three different sizes. Officina 00 | Old Street

Old Street has gotten something new.

Officina 00 has moved in courtesy of messrs Elia Sebregondi and Enzo Mirto, both of whom hail from Naples, and both of whom have worked in some of London’s best kitchens along the way – Elia has worked the stoves at both Kiln and Bone Daddies, while Enzo was the general manager of Ella Canta.

This new venture is a love letter to the carbohydrate, with regional pastas, sourdough breads, and pastries created live in front of diners in a theatre kitchen they’re calling “The Lab” (the name officina literally means ‘workshop’). They’re even hoping to mill the flour in-house, too. READ MORE

The KPH | Notting Hill

In the early 1960s, the Kensington Park Hotel in Notting Hill held a live gig for an unknown Welsh singer named Tom Jones.

On that day, a legend was born.

The Kensington Park Hotel – nicknamed simply the KPH – became an iconic music venue, filing the stage with an extraordinary lineup of bands over the decades. Tom Jones also saw some modest success. Unfortunately, despite being almost a second home to bands like The Clash, the KPH clashed with their landlord, and was threatened with closure in 2017.

Well, thanks to a successful campaign to save it, now it’s back…
