Smokey Tails | Star of Bethnal Green Residency
DJs and chefs have a lot in common: they both like mixing, they bring a lot to the (turn) tables, and they clearly don’t work well in analogies.
And to prove just how much they have in common: Smokey Tails.
After a stint at its first (semi) permanent home at Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen, and now bedding down at The Star of Bethnal Green – ST is the baby of DJ Seth Troxler, whose laundry list of acoustic accomplishment (playing everywhere from Glasto, to Coachella, to Fabric, to Burning Man) is only matched by the rabid love for his award-winning BBQ, which has seen sell-out popups in London, Melbourne, Sydney, Miami & Amsterdam.
The menu rotates seasonally, and stretches from ‘cue classics like smoked pulled pork buns with pickled red cabbage (loaded with Troxler family BBQ sauce, made to a secret 120 year-old family recipe) and melt-in-the-mouth maple buttered fried wings, along with slightly more boat-pushing numbers including buffalo-fried cauliflower ‘wings’ with garlic aioli and deep fried cheese curds with smoke paprika ranch.
And naturally, every Saturday there’ll be bottomless brunches with pulled pork eggs benny and unlimited pancakes, while Sunday will play host to the Smokey Tails roast, after which you can head into the Star’s private karaoke room for a little music-making.
After all, the two things do have a lot in common.
