Welcome to the world of STK (“Not Your Daddy’s Steakhouse”), a vibrant NYC hotspot opening its first international outpost in the Strand’s ME hotel.
Following pre-dinner cocktails on the heated terrace of ME’s Radio Rooftop Bar you’ll head downstairs into STK: a land of black gloss, cream leather banquettes, DJs, smoky mirrors and plaster cast horns. And there you’ll find even more cocktails, from the Cucumber Stiletto and the Miss Mable to an STK classic: Not Your Daddy’s Manhattan.
But you look hungry.
Choices to start include prawn rice krispies, foie gras on toast and Wagyu beef sliders topped with STK’s ‘special sauce’. And amongst the entrées- in addition to small, medium or large cuts of beef from the grill (ranging from feather steak to Chateaubriand) – you’ll find BBQ short ribs with lobster mac n’ cheese, roast pork shoulder with bourbon peaches, and seaweed salted bass with parmesan truffle fries.
All of which is lovely, but which pales into insignificance just as soon as the sweetie trolley rolls around…
Because here’s the real reason that STK offers its patrons the option of ordering a small steak: leaving room for dessert. Desserts like the syrup and candy store-topped Manhattan Mess, a Salted Caramel Tart, Cheesecake Lollipops and A Taste Of The Fairground – a ridiculous combination of doughnuts, chocolate peanut popcorn, toffee apples and marshmallow kebabs.
Should’ve called it DSSRT.
