SEX AND THE CITY, EPISODE 68
– At Sushisamba, Barrow & 7th, NYC
[Samantha arrives, and sits down].
Richard: In a wildly optimistic gesture, I ordered you a Dirty Martini.
Samantha: Dirty Martini? [Throws drink in his face…] Dirty Bastard.
[Samantha stands up, and leaves].
And so it was that Sushisamba – which famously serves a unique fusion of Japanese/ Peruvian/ Brazilian food (and dirty martinis) – quickly became the place to be, opening a second restaurant in New York before launching in Vegas, Chicago, Miami and now… London.
Perched atop the City’s Heron Tower (just below Duck & Waffle), it’s straddled by two outdoor terraces, one of which has a cocktail bar centred around a full-size orange tree. But what else would you expect from somewhere named Sushisamba?
Well.

You can expect the dishes that have won the place unanimous praise across the globe, with wagyu gyoza and sweet soy sauce to start; before moving onto scallop ceviche with mandarin leche de tigre; yellowtail tiradito with jalapeño and lemongrass; chicken heart Peruvian skewers scorched on the robata grill; and black cod with maize morada and popcorn.
You can expect to soak up sweeping views over the city with cocktails like the Miso Mule, Smoked Plum Negroni, or Plantain Punch, with rum, plantain purée, aromatised wine, banana and cacao; before sharing some alfajores for dessert, with dulce de leche, black salt, and actual gold.

And finally, they’re expecting you to enjoy yourself – with nightly DJs and late openings till 1.30am at the beginning of the week, and 2am on Wednesday – Saturday.
And with those views, it’d be rude not to.
NOTE: Sushisamba is open daily from 11.30am till late. You can find out more, and reserve a table, HERE – or check out their second London branch in Covent Garden.
