If you’ve long been hoping for a Greek restaurant to open in Soho…
Today’s suvlaki day.
Because Soho’s food offering has now diversified with the arrival of an Athenian food joint. A dinky sleeve of a space, it boasts a menu led by suvlaki meat skewers, cooked up on a robata-style charcoal grill and served both on skewers and wrapped in pillowy pittas.
It’s all accompanied by starters like courgette fritters, prawn saganaki and paprika-dusted baked feta, as well as sides including gigantes (baked beans) and oregano fries, best enjoyed up at the counter where you can watch the chefs work.
The wine list, fittingly, is an entirely Greek offering, as is the modest beer selection, featuring brews like the Nissos Pilsner and Fix lager, which they’ll be more than happy to advise you on.
Just in case it’s all Greek to you.
NOTE: Suvlaki is open daily from noon till late. You can find out more on their website HERE.
