The Prince | Street Food & Cocktails Under A Pergola
It’s the king of West London popups.
And now it’s back for another season.
Having first opened last year in the former Prince of Wales pub in Earl’s Court, they’ve lovingly fashioned it into a veritable avenue of epicurean indulgence for the summer. Here’s how it all breaks down…
Staying true to their street food roots, they’ve made the most of the space by bussing in four vendors to take residence in the formerly disused buildings to the side of the pub. The long-awaited second outpost of Thai Peckham favourite, The Begging Bowl and reigning burger monarchs Patty & Bun are joined for the summer by Boxpark fried chicken purveyors Coqfighter and Foley’s Bao & Yakitori Grill, serving, well, bao and yakitori. Deliciously.
Inside you’ll find the former pub, now renovated into a slick, double-level drinking den, fitted out with moody blue walls, industrial brass light fittings and exposed beams and brickwork. Head out the back door, however, and you’ll stumble into…
1 SECLUDED WOODLAND GARDEN
Tucked away from sight behind the grand facade of the pub, this hidden, flower-laden oasis is accessible from the back of each of the buildings via a whitewashed al fresco dining terrace. Follow it down and you’ll find a magical, fairy-lit warren overhung by a pergola festooned with tumbling garlands of wisteria and hydrangeas. These are all set beneath a pair of clear and retractable rooves for the summer, under which you’ll find communal tables, private cabins, and a cocktail bar wrapped around a gnarled old willow tree…
They’re really branching out this year.
NOTE: The Prince will be open daily from 12th April, noon till late (11am on weekends), with Foley’s Bao and Yakitori Grill trading from 3rd May. Bookings are free for up to 199 people, and you can sign up for a free frozen margarita on their website HERE.
