The Prince

London’s Pergolas are practically restaurant royalty these days.

But just to make doubly sure, they’ve launched a new venue called The Prince.

Their third opening after Pergola on the Roof and Pergola Paddington Central, you’ll find it in the now-renovated Prince of Wales pub in Earl’s Court, which they’ve fixed up into a veritable avenue of epicurean indulgence.

Here’s how it all breaks down…

4 RESTAURANTS

Scaling up from their usual street food offering, you’ll find four entire restaurants in the formerly disused buildings to the side of the pub. Expect Vietnamese BBQ from newly-opened Mam (slinging their classic pork neck skewers) classic burger fodder from Patty & Bun, a long-awaited second outpost of Thai Peckham favourite, The Begging Bowl (deep fried sea bass with green mango and tamarind, oh yes) and a sophomore branch of Chelsea’s farm-to-fork outfit Rabbit, whose roast potatoes come with labneh and Sussex chorizo.

2 BARS

They’ve renovated the old pub into a slick, double-level drinking den, fitted out with moody blue walls, industrial brass light fittings and exposed beams and brickwork. You can expect all the requisite beers, ciders, wines, and spirits that such a place might necessitate, alongside a few unexpected extras, including mulled wine, hot spiced plum cider, and a Winter Warmer cocktail with hot rum, apple juice, and Christmas spices.

The other bar, meanwhile is found downstairs in the…

SECLUDED, SUNKEN WOODLAND GARDEN

Tucked away from sight behind the grand facade of the pub is a hidden heated garden, accessible from the back of each of the buildings via a communal al fresco terrace. This leads down to a magical, fairy-lit warren overhung by a pergola festooned with tumbling garlands of climbing plants and wintry flowers, which, before you know it, will have drawn you in to hunt out the hidden tables, private cabins, and the cocktail bar wrapped around a gnarled old willow tree.

We’re hoping Grandmother Willow’s the bartender.
