Not many chefs get the chance to put their debut restaurant next to Tower Bridge.
Some of them just can’t get over it.
Luckily, Tom Simmons doesn’t have to, because his own bow into the world of restaurant ownership is at the spearhead of the new, gargantuan One Tower Bridge development. After starring in MasterChef The Professionals at the age of 21, winning 2 AA Rosettes, and working with Tom Aikens & Mark Sargeant, the Pembrokeshire native is opening a British/French restaurant with a heavy emphasis on Welsh heritage for both ingredients and recipes.
The bi-level space itself has a muted, earthy feel thanks to wood panelled walls, a slate bar and Welsh oak tables. It’s open all day, for brunch, lunch, and evening service, and here’s what’s on:
You can expect dishes like scorched mackerel, tartar, apple, cucumber, avocado & oyster leaves; lamb rump, pommes anna, peas, courgette and feta and pineapple tarte tatin with coconut ice cream. There’s even bar bites like cockle popcorn with laverbread mayonnaise.
Take a bow.
NOTE: Tom Simmons Tower Bridge is open for lunch and dinner, Tues-Sat; you can check out their website right HERE.
