PLEASE NOTE: This event series has taken place.
Allow us to introduce 8 Flights Of Wine.
It’s a first-class voyage for your tastebuds.
Taking place next month, it’s an exclusive series of wine tasting events at two of the best natural wine bars in the city: Diogenes The Dog and Aspen & Meursault. They’re going to involve a flight of 8 wines with plenty of small plates, lively conversation, and zero turbulence. And because you’re a Nudge Member, you’re getting it with a tasty 40% off the standard price.
The tastings will take place every Thursday in October, alternating between the venues each week. So it’ll all kick off at Diogenes The dog on the 4th, before moving onto Aspen & Merusalt on the 11th, and so on. So what to expect on the nights themselves? Well, each event will have trained sommeliers put together a bespoke collection of wines to taste. You’ll get four small plates, each coming with a pair of wines – two sparkling, two white, two orange, and two red.
At Diogenes The Dog (an atmospheric venue next to a park in Elephant & Castle) you can expect a selection of their carefully curated ‘underdog’ wines, with hidden gems that come from places as far afield as India, China, Texas, Mexico and more. Aspen & Merusault, which you’ll find on a leafy Battersea side street, champions a diverse selection of low intervention & biodynamic wines. And at both venues, it’ll all be paired up with a rotating menu that features the likes of oysters, baked Camembert in sourdough bowls, grilled spicy chorizo, beetroot & horseradish cured salmon, burrata on confit garlic, and more.
You’ll get to chat them through, and there’ll likely be a lot of talk about things like stone fruits and minerality and whatever tannins are supposed to be, but the general idea is to deepen your knowledge of wine in a fun and interesting way, particularly by comparing two similar wines with each course.
And like other flights, it’ll probably make you feel like you actually are on holiday, too.
NOTE: 8 Flights Of Wine will run every Thursday in October. Tickets are £61 incl. VAT (usually £106 incl. VAT). Dates are Diogenes The Dog (3rd, 17th, 31st), and Aspen & Meursault (10th & 24th October). To find out to find out how to secure your tickets, just head to the Members’ Box at the top of this page.
