Backyard Cinema’s Capital Studios | A huge, immersive movie-watching playground
An ageing former TV star is about to make the leap to cinema.
Her name is Capital Studios, and she’s in Wandsworth. She was first built in the 1960s, and for almost half a century she housed gameshows, cookery programs, dramas, and more. Since closing in 2014 she’s lain dormant, until the people at Backyard Cinema stumbled across her…
Now they’re going to soup the venue up into an immersive, multi-sensory cinematic playground. There’ll be a theme-changing auditorium, live music, a drinks terrace, artisan pizza, a cocktail lounge, some vegan street food, craft beer, and a few more surprises to boot. They’re even teasing the return of their Night Garden; a huge indoor hedge maze that ends with a film screening.
Sound like a capital idea.
NOTE: Backyard Cinema’s Capital Studios is due to open sometime in September. We’ll be back then with the full scoop. In the meantime, you can find out more at their website right HERE.
