Bubala x Berber & Q | Vegetarian Middle Eastern Feasting
Bubala is a Jewish term of endearment, the meaning of which roughly translates to “sweetheart”, “darling”, or “vegetarian Middle Eastern pop up that holds supper clubs in some of London’s best bars & restaurants, and has sold them all out.”
Depending on context, of course.
After a typically excellent run at Untitled, they’re back this February with a pop up at Berber & Q – which incidentally, is where Bubala was originally conceived by (the then-manager of Berber & Q) Marc Summers. He’s being joined again by chef Helen Graham, who’s impressive culinary CV includes stints at The Palomar, The Barbary, and The Good Egg.
The pop up will be a two day affair, starting at Berber & Q’s Shawarma Bar in Exmouth Market on Sunday the 17th of February, before moving onto the original Berber & Q in Haggerston on Monday the 18th.
As with all Bubala pop ups the menu will be kept under wraps (to be clear: not as in flatbreads. Although those may be involved.) until the evening itself, but it is guaranteed to be completely different to every previous event. And there’ll be an optional wine-pairing for each course from the Modest Merchant, for a mere £20 a head.
It’s enough to make you think of Bubala as your new bubala.
NOTE: Bubala is heading to Berber & Q’s Shawarma Bar in Exmouth Market on February 17th, and Berber & Q Hagerstown on Monday 18th. You can get tickets (£35pp) and find out more right HERE.
