BFI Flare | London’s leading LGBTIQ+ film festival
BFI Flare is the nation’s largest LGBTQ+ film festival, and this will be the largest BFI Flare yet.
That means that you’ll get a whopping 57 feature films and 90 shorts, all for your viewing pleasure ay the Southbank over the 12 days that the festival is on. Some of the highlights include:
Something You Said Last Night – “It’s lazy days under the blazing sun for twentysomething trans woman Renata, in this refreshingly authentic family drama.”
JEWELLE: A Just Vision – “A celebration of the achievements of Jewelle Gomez, whose vampire stories and engagement with Black and Indigenous histories were well ahead of their time.”
Swallowed – “It’s drugs, bugs and unrequited hugs in this deliciously grotesque queer body horror from Carter Smith.”
The Five Devils – “A magical queer French thriller about a young girl with special powers whose world is upended with the arrival of a mysterious relative.”
Rule 34 – “A woman explores her erotic desires at home, while during the day works on sexual violence cases.”
And that’s not all – this year, they’re also debuting the world’s first virtual LGBTQ+ museum. What is a virtual museum? Well, you can have some fun finding out, but it basically involves virtual reality, screen-based installations, volumetric video, 3-D scanning and interactive games.
It’s got some real flair.
NOTE: BFI Flare takes place from 15th to 26th March at BFI Southbank. You can find out more, and get tickets at the website right here.
